The New York City (mostly Manhattan) Snapchat geofilter project was by far one of the most interesting projects we have completed to date. It started off with some basic planning, hit the neighborhoods of Manhattan and get all of the NYC Borough filters. However it was quickly apparent that the plans of hitting only about 20 neighborhoods was not going to cut it. It turns out Manhattan alone has about 75+ geofilters, and they’re all spread out across the city. So that cut the plans for riding the Subway and getting these Geofilter quickly (yes, Snapchat geofilters actually work in any subway station equipped with a cellular access point.) Getting the geofilters became a process of running around the city (and taking in all of the amazing views a normal tourist would never see). There also was the process of coming back from the trip and spoofing our location to get a majority of the filters missing from the collection.
It was a lot of fun creating this Snapchat Geofilter Map and gallery, feel free to share this post with your friends.
